Deep Sky Imaging at Dubbo
Access our new Planewave 17" Telescope at Dubbo Observatory online to take your own astrophotographs of Nebulae, Galaxies, and Star clusters from your home.
For the unexperienced, I guide you through it online the whole way or do the imaging for you entirely.
For the experienced, you can run it yourself if you prefer.
Or you can request a list of objects you want imaged and I do them for you.
You pay for 1 hour blocks in advance at $60/hour or 1 minute blocks at $1 per minute..
You are charged for the actual imaging time of your object. So a 1 minute exposure costs you $1.00. (no charge for calibration frames)
You simply download the images to your own computer.
The images I calibrate for you with bias, dark and flat fields to reduce noise in the images.
Colour Photos require the combination of 4 exposures through each of the filters (Luminance, red, green, blue). These can be stacked and combined for you if you prefer.
Exposure times will depend on the brightness of the object.
As a guide you would need at least 3 minute exposures for each filter and repeat 3 times. The more exposure time or repeats, the better the image.
The telescope is mounted on a Paramount MEII
A SBig 11000 CCD astronomical Camera is used for imaging.
Filters available are: Luminance, Red, Green, Blue.
Photometric V filter
An off-axis guider is used for long exposures
Narrow Band Imaging
Narrowband filters are available to use. These have a 3nm bandpass Ha, SII, OIII

Photometry at Warrumbungle Observatory
Our Planewave 20"telescope at Warrumbungle Observatory can do photometric images of variable stars, comets and asteroids.
We do the imaging for you, calibrate the images with bias, dark and flat frames. We can remove hot and cold pixels if you like
Filters available( B,V,R,I, Clear)
CCD is a SBig STL 6303 This is a non antiblooming CCD
Cost is $1 per minute (AUS dollars) of exposure time.
Email [email protected] to request giving the object name
coordinates in J2000
